Network & IP Connectivity
IP connectivity operated on our autonomous network AS198385, with multi-transit and presence at the main European exchange points.
Autonomous network operated in-house
AS198385 operated directly by our teams since 2011, with full control of BGP announcements and routing policies.
Multi-transit & European peering
Presence on SwissIX, RomandIX, France-IX and DE-CIX with several independent upstreams to eliminate any single point of failure.
Fibre connectivity throughout Switzerland
Dedicated OTO links available throughout Switzerland for IP transit or a private connection to our datacenters.
Why an autonomous network matters
Most hosting providers depend on a third-party operator for their IP connectivity. AlpineDC operates its own autonomous system: that changes the game for responsiveness, transparency and path control.
Control of routing decisions
We manage our BGP policies directly. No intermediary to change a path, add a peering session or respond to an incident.
Resilience by design
Several independent transit providers and peerings at major European IXPs avoid any single point of failure.
Optimised latency
Direct peering with Swiss and European networks enables shorter IP paths, especially for local and cross-border traffic.
Technical transparency
Our ASN, prefixes and peering sessions are public and visible in routing databases (RIPE, BGP.he.net).
Local network support
A team based in Western Switzerland understands your issues and intervenes without escalation to a national or foreign operator.
IP scalability
Native IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, additional blocks and customer BGP with your own ASN: the network adapts to your needs.
Network infrastructure
AlpineDC directly operates its own autonomous system (AS198385), with no reliance on a third-party operator for IP connectivity management. This network mastery enables control of routing policies, optimisation of IP paths and rapid response in the event of an incident.
AS198385 — Own autonomous system
AlpineDC announces its own IPv4 and IPv6 prefixes via BGP from its Swiss sites. The network is operated directly by our teams, with no intermediary, ensuring responsiveness and transparency on routing decisions.
Multi-transit
Outgoing connectivity relies on several independent IP transit providers, ensuring network resilience in the event of an operator failure and path optimisation according to destination.
Peering — Exchange points
AlpineDC is present on SwissIX, RomandIX, France-IX and DE-CIX. The full list of active peering sessions is available on BGP.he.net.
Native IP addressing
Every AlpineDC service includes native IPv4 and IPv6 addressing. Additional blocks are available according to needs, with BGP announcement possible for customers with their own address space.
BGP transit & IP connectivity
AlpineDC provides IP transit to operators, hosters and businesses, whether hosted in our datacenters or connected via an external dedicated link.
BGP transit — customers with their own ASN
For organisations with their own autonomous system, AlpineDC announces your IPv4 and IPv6 prefixes via AS198385, with access to our multi-transit connectivity and peerings.
- BGP session (IPv4 and/or IPv6)
- Announcement of your PI prefixes via AS198385
- Available in 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps, higher capacities on request
- Technical support by a local network team
IP transit — no ASN required
No ASN? AlpineDC also provides simple IP connectivity, with addressing included from our address space.
- Available in 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps, higher capacities on request
- IPv4 and IPv6 addressing included
- Ideal for businesses seeking direct connectivity without BGP management
These services are available both for customers hosted in our datacenters and for external customers connected via a dedicated link, with no obligation to host equipment at AlpineDC.
Customer site connectivity — Dedicated fibre
AlpineDC can establish a dedicated fibre link between a customer's premises and our datacenter, leveraging our NNI infrastructure and the Swiss fibre network. This service is available throughout Switzerland, subject to OTO socket availability.
IP transit at customer premises
Access the Internet via AlpineDC's AS198385 network directly from your premises, without going through a third-party ISP. Ideal for businesses wanting controlled IP connectivity, with the same quality and support guarantees as our datacenter services.
Point-to-point link (P2P) Office — Datacenter
Connect your premises directly to your infrastructure hosted at AlpineDC via a dedicated private link. Traffic does not transit over the Internet — it is an exclusive L2 connection between your site and our facilities.
- Secure, high-performance access to dedicated or colocated servers at AlpineDC
- Replacement of a site-to-datacenter VPN with a private link
- Continuity between your premises and your critical infrastructure in Switzerland
